The South Gippsland Highway, Dandenong South level crossing has been removed with a road bridge over the rail line opening in August 2021, months ahead of schedule.

A new intersection will connect South Gippsland Highway to Princes Highway, improving safety and traffic flow.

With over 31,000 cars and trucks travelling across the level crossing each day, the removal of this level crossing will create more reliable travel times in one of Australia’s busiest manufacturing regions.

We’re improving walking and cycling connections in the area, making it safer and easier to access local businesses and services.

Green space will also be constructed at the former South Gippsland Highway and Princes Highway intersection. Green space was also constructed at the former South Gippsland Highway and Princes Highway intersection.

These works, along with the Cranbourne Line Upgrade Project, Metro Tunnel Project and other vital infrastructure projects in the area will create better connections in Melbourne’s south east.
