Early works at Robinsons Road are now underway, ahead of major works starting later this year.
The Robinsons Road level crossing will be removed by building a road underpass under the rail line. The level crossing will be removed by 2023.
The boom gates in Deer Park and Ardeer can be down for up to 45 per cent of the morning peak, when up to 37 trains run through the crossings. Current network plans involve increasing trains running on the Geelong and Ballarat lines, meaning more boom gate downtime.

On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
