North Road, Ormond
The busy and congested level crossing at North Road in Ormond was removed back in 2016, and new station opened late in that year.
This crossing was removed by lowering the rail line below North Road.
Community feedback on this project helped identify an opportunity to add a second entrance to the station that allows easier access from both sides of North Road.
The palm trees that were temporarily removed for construction near the station, but were successfully replanted.
McKinnon Road, McKinnon
The level crossing at McKinnon Road, McKinnon was removed in 2016 and a new McKinnon Station opened that same year.
The level crossing was removed by lowering the rail line below McKinnon Road.
Centre Road, Bentleigh
The level crossing at Centre Road, Bentleigh was removed in 2016 and a new Bentleigh Station opened that same year.
The level crossing was removed by lowering the rail line below Centre Road.
The Centre Road level crossing was removed concurrently with other crossings at McKinnon Road, McKinnon and North Road in Ormond.
The stations are now safer, more user friendly and fully accessible, with lifts, ramps and stairs down to platforms below ground level in the new rail cutting.
