The Murrumbeena Road level crossing was removed in June 2018 as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project, which removed nine level crossings and built five new stations.
By constructing an elevated rail line, the project has opened up 22.5 hectares of open space and parkland for the community.
On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is overseeing the removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
