Three crossings at Mt Derrimut Road and Robinsons Road in Deer Park, and Fitzgerald Road in Ardeer, will be removed along the Geelong and Ballarat lines.
We’ll remove the level crossing at Mt Derrimut Road by building a rail bridge over the road. We’ll also build a new Deer Park Station, complete with bicycle facilities, car parking, accessible platforms, and landscaping.
Removing this level crossing will ease delays for the 23,000 vehicles that pass through the crossing every day. Boom gates in Deer Park and Ardeer can be down for up to 45 per cent of the morning peak, when up to 37 trains travel through the crossings.
Construction will start in late 2021, with the level crossing to be removed in 2024.
We'll seek community feedback at Engage Victoria from Monday 19 April to Friday 7 May as we continue to refine the design for removing the level crossing.

On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is overseeing the removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
