The level crossing at Main Road, St Albans was removed in 2016 by lowering the rail line below the road.
The level crossing was removed at the same time as the crossing at Furlong Street, and new stations at Ginifer and St Albans were built as part of the project.
Walking and cycling paths were also built, running parallel to the rail line.
On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is overseeing the removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
