We're removing 10 more level crossings by 2025, bringing the total to 85 level crossings gone for good.

Level crossing removed

The level crossing at Lower Plenty Road in Rosanna was removed by building a rail bridge over the road in May 2018.

A new elevated Rosanna Station was built as part of the project.

This work was completed as part of a package of works that also removed the level crossing at Grange Road, Alphington and duplicated a single section of track between Heidelberg and Rosanna.

Before their removal in March 2018, the boom gates at Lower Plenty Road were down for about 43 minutes during the weekday morning peak, causing delays for around 17,000 vehicles.

On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is removing 85 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
