The level crossing at Lower Plenty Road in Rosanna has now been removed and the new Rosanna Station is open.
A construction blitz earlier this year enabled crews to install a rail bridge over Lower Plenty Road and build the new Rosanna Station, which opened in early May 2018.
Work to fully complete the station – including landscaping and car parking – will take place over coming months. Landscaping designs that incorporated feedback heard during consultation last year were presented to the Rosanna community in July 2018.
Two extra weekday services will be added to the Hurstbridge line from August now the duplication is complete and the level crossings have been removed.
Before their removal in March 2018, the boom gates at Lower Plenty Road were down for about 43 minutes during the 7:00am to 9:00am weekday morning peak causing delays for around 17,000 vehicles.
