Planning for the second stage of the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade is now underway. The upgrade will deliver further improvements on the Hurstbridge line, including more train services, less crowding on peak trains and better connections to public transport in Melbourne’s north-east.
The project will involve:
- building a new station at Greensborough
- the duplication of three kilometres of track between Greensborough and Eltham, while retaining the Eltham Trestle Bridge
- the duplication of 1.5 kilometres of track between Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen.
Construction for the project is expected to begin in early 2020.
