Level crossing removed

The level crossing at Heatherdale Road, Mitcham was removed in 2017 along with building the new Heatherdale Station.

The crossing was removed by lowering the Belgrave/Lilydale rail line under Heatherdale Road.

The station was rebuilt on the east side of the road.

Car parks offer direct access to the platforms and there is a 'kiss and ride' drop off point via Heatherdale Road which also provides direct access to Platform 2.

A section of the 10-kilometre Box Hill to Ringwood walking and cycling path was completed as part of the project.
