The level crossing at Heatherdale Road, Mitcham has been removed and the new Heatherdale Station is up and running.
The crossing was removed by lowering the Belgrave/Lilydale rail line under Heatherdale Road.
The station was rebuilt on the east side of the road.
Car parks offer direct access to the platforms and there is a 'kiss and ride' drop off point via Heatherdale Road which also provides direct access to Platform 2.
A section of the 10 kilometre Box Hill to Ringwood walking and cycling path has been completed as part of the project.
New stations star in sustainability
Melbourne’s reinvigorated train stations are receiving high praise across the sustainability sector thanks to a range of industry-first initiatives saving time, money and the environment.
We are excited to announce that the Heatherdale Road Level Crossing Removal Project is nearing completion, with the finishing touches now being made to the area around the station.
Trains are back up and running at the new Heatherdale Station, with Heatherdale Road now open to motorists.
