Major construction is well underway for a vital upgrade, which will allow for trains every ten minutes on the Cranbourne line.
We’re also removing the last three remaining level crossings between Cranbourne and the city and building a brand new station at Merinda Park in Lyndhurst.

Hand in hand with the Metro Tunnel, the Cranbourne Line Upgrade will make road and rail travel easier, faster and more reliable for Melbourne’s south east.
This project will also deliver a new rail connection for the Port Rail Shuttle Network, allowing freight to be transported by train from Dandenong South through to the Port of Melbourne.
Major works have also begun to untangle the tracks at the junction where the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines merge in Dandenong.
Once complete in 2023, the new parallel tracks will increase reliability, making it easier for trains to run to the timetable.

Merinda Park Station – car park changes
Up to 30 car park spaces at Merinda Park Station will be closed until Wednesday 30 June and the existing ‘Drop off and Pick up’ location continues to be in its relocated area.
Thompsons Road, Lyndhurst – pedestrian path closure
A section of the Thompsons Road pedestrian path and under the Thompsons Road bridge on the eastern side will be closed from Monday 1 February to Saturday 15 May.
Merinda Park Station – new platform and station entrance access changes
A brand-new platform and station buildings will open at Merinda Park Station on Thursday 18 March.
Cranbourne Station – car park closures
Up to 27 car parks in the George Street car park at Cranbourne Station are closed from Monday 22 March to Monday 31 May.
