The boom gates at Burke Road, Glen Iris were removed and a new Gardiner Station opened in January 2016.
All work at the crossing and station sites was finished by August 2016.
This level crossing was removed by lowering the rail line below Burke Road, with station platforms now lowered and accessed by lifts and stairs.
The project included the consolidation of tram stops near the station on Burke Road and the addition of new walking and cycling paths nearby.
On behalf of the Victorian Government, the Level Crossing Removal Project is overseeing the removal of 75 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2025.
