We've removed the level crossing at Brunt Road, Beaconsfield by building a road bridge over the rail line.

The level crossing was removed in April 2024, one year ahead of schedule.

The new road bridge will improve safety and reduce congestion for the 8400 vehicles that passed through the level crossing, and allow more trains to run, more often.

New paths across the bridge provide a direct link to local schools, shops and services on either side of the rail line.

We'll continue to work in the area, including completing landscaping and planting of more than 50,000 plants, shrubs and grasses.

The removal of this level crossing will help to create a level crossing free Pakenham Line which will change how locals live, work and travel. With no level crossings on the train line, journeys on the Pakenham Line will be faster and local roads safer.
