The level crossing at Blackburn Road in Blackburn has been removed, with the rail line now lowered under Blackburn Road.
This project included major enhancements to the existing Blackburn Station for better integration with Blackburn Village and improve the way people move around the precinct.
A new walking and cycling path between Blackburn and Nunawading were built, along with pedestrian crossings over the rail cutting at Cottage Street and King Street/Oliver Avenue, connecting the north and south sides.

After 41 days of 24/7 work the Belgrave/Lilydale line reopened on Monday 6 February with trains travelling underneath both Blackburn and Heatherdale roads.
Summer works blitz starts with the removal of two more boom gates
Another two boom gates have been removed as a major construction blitz began yesterday at Blackburn Road, Blackburn and Heatherdale Road, Mitcham.
The Blackburn Road Level Crossing Removal Project will be fully completed by the end of July.
After 41 days of around-the-clock construction, the Blackburn Road level crossing is now gone forever.
