Works to remove the dangerous and congested level crossing at Bell Street in Preston will get under way later in 2018 and the project will be completed by 2020.
A decision on the design to be used to remove the crossing has not yet been made.
The level crossing, located on the South Morang rail line, is one of northern Melbourne’s worst congestion hot spots.
As part of the project, LXRA will work to deliver a vibrant station precinct; improved traffic flow; safer paths and better connections for pedestrians and cyclists.
Planning and investigations are well underway to remove the dangerous and congested Bell Street level crossing in Preston.
