Opportunities for new open space between Caulfield and Dandenong
Trent - Level Crossing Removal Authority
We are in the planning and detailed design stages to remove nine of the most dangerous and congested level crossings between Caulfield and Dandenong.
[Vision: Graph of locations of level crossings to be removed]
To remove these level crossings, we’ll be lifting the rail line up onto three new bridges.
[Vision: Artist’s impression of raised rail line with open space beneath]
That’ll allow us access to kilometres of new open space.
[Vision: Open space various uses]
This is space that can be used for parklands, cycling facilities, community facilities, barbecues and playgrounds.
[Vision: Open space - 11 MCGs]
The equivalent of 11 MCG’s worth of open space.

To help us frame the way we’re going to build this new open space we’ve assembled an expert panel that includes representatives from local businesses, local community, councils, Victoria Police and Bicycle Network Victoria.
[Vision: Trent speaking]
We want to hear from you though. We want to hear from the local community.
So please visit our Level Crossing webpage and provide us ideas and information on how we can shape Melbourne’s parklands for the future.
