Works notice – We’re half way there – thank you Preston

The Preston Level Crossing Removal Project would like to thank the local community for its ongoing support as we work to remove four dangerous and congested level crossings by the end of 2022.

2021 has been an extremely productive year for the project as we’ve witnessed the new rail bridge come to life between Regent Street and Oakover Road, Preston. Some important milestones have been achieved throughout the year including:

• 98 of 232 concrete bridge structures (L-beams) have been installed
• All six station platform modules installed at Preston Station
• 52 of 84 bridge piers and crossheads installed
• 6.8 of 7.5 kms of underground communications and signalling installed between Clifton Hill and Preston

The Preston Level Crossing Removal Project will close down over the holiday period from Thursday 23 December, and will return to site on Monday 10 January 2022.

Return to construction commencing Monday 10 January 2022

A number of works will recommence when the Project returns to site in the early New Year.

• Pier and crosshead construction north of Murray Road
• Concrete bridge structures (L-beams) installed across Murray Road
• Preston Station works
• L-beam installation between Cramer Street and Bell Street
• L-beam installation at Bell Station and between Bell Street and Oakover Road
• Bell Station works

Impacted residents will be notified of specific works in their area closer to the time.
