Works notice – Vegetation removal in Bonbeach

06 Oct 2020

The Victorian Government is removing 18 dangerous level crossings and building 12 new stations as part of a $3 billion upgrade on the Frankston line that will improve safety, reduce congestion and run more trains, more often.

Works are continuing on the Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach level crossing removal project with strict health and safety protocols in place.

The health and safety of our workers and the community will remain our key priority as we undertake works on the Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach level crossing removal project.

We will continue to follow the directions of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) as we safely complete works on this project.

Works taking place

The rail line will be lowered in the existing narrow rail corridor between Station Street and Nepean Highway. Due to the narrow corridor, construction of the rail trench and the relocation of underground water and drainage will require vegetation removal.

Between Monday 12 October and Friday 16 October vegetation removal will take place on the eastern side of Station Street, between York and Breeze streets in Bonbeach to enable underground utility and drainage relocation as part of works to lower the Frankston line. See map overleaf for locations.

The Level Crossing Removal Project works with environmental and sustainability specialists across all projects to manage the impacts on flora and fauna. Before being removed, trees are inspected for the presence of wildlife, and qualified handlers are on site to safely rehome wildlife.

Dates may change subject to weather conditions.

What to expect

  • Workers, vehicles and equipment
  • Moderate noise from machinery
  • Traffic management in place to help you move through the area safely
  • Works will take place from 7am to 6pm.
