Works notice – Union Road night works

We’re removing the dangerous and congested level crossings at Union Road, Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert by lowering the rail line beneath the roads in an open trench and building a new premium station with better facilities and more services.
Works on the Union Road, Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert level crossing removal are being carried out with COVIDSafe Plans in place to help protect workers and the community.

Upcoming night works
Site investigations at the Union Road level crossing and surrounds will be undertaken at night to minimise the impact on road users.
The Union Road level crossing will be closed each night between 8pm and 6am from Monday 31 January until Friday 4 February 2022.
What to expect
Road closures and detours will be in place (see map overleaf). Access to all properties will be maintained.
Access to Coles Local basement carpark will be accessible via Sunbury Crescent.
Some on-streets car parks will be required for these works. We’ll make contact with nearby residents and businesses ahead of any changes.
Pedestrian detours will be in place.
How this will affect you
Traffic management will be in place to keep the public and our work crews safe. Please drive with care and follow the signs and any directions from traffic control staff.
Lights will be directed away from residential properties
There will be some construction noise associated with these works.
