Works notice – Preston Station overnight deliveries September
19 Aug 2021
The Victorian Government is removing four dangerous and congested level crossings at Oakover Road, Bell Street, Cramer Street and Murray Road, and building new Bell and Preston Stations. The level crossings will be removed by raising the rail line over the roads, improving safety and accessibility, and delivering new community open spaces.
Works to construct the rail bridges on the Preston Level Crossing Removal Project continue to ramp up with more L- Beams and platform steel modules, due to be delivered in September.
Deliveries of L-Beams and steel modules will happen from 30 August until late September 2021, between 7pm and 6am; and impacted residents will be notified ahead of time.
Due to Department of Transport regulations, these larger sections must be delivered overnight. Deliveries will be made on the Preston Market side of Preston Station via Murray Road and Cramer Street.
L-Beams will be and installed on both sides of the rail corridor overnight. The steel modules will be stored within the project works compound and installed in October.
Deliveries are dependent on a range of factors including weather conditions. Every effort will be made to complete these works on schedule however, dates are subject to change.
Access to Preston Station and residential properties will be maintained.
