Works notice – Pakenham site investigation works - local roads

09 Dec 2020

The Victorian Government is removing three dangerous and congested level crossings at McGregor Road, Main Street and Racecourse Road, and building new stations at Pakenham and Pakenham East.

To better understand the area’s conditions and help inform the design of the new Pakenham Level Crossing Removal Project, we need to carry out site investigation works that may temporarily change the way you travel.

From Friday 11 December 2020 to end of February 2021 site investigation works will occur along the following local roads, between 7am and 6pm weekdays, and 7am and 3pm Saturdays, weather permitting:

  • McGregor Road
  • Heritage Boulevard
  • Colonial Way
  • Duncan Drive
  • Henty Street
  • Racecourse Road
  • Railway Avenue
  • Charles Street
  • Campbell Street
  • Bald Hill Road
  • Healesville Koo Wee Rup Road
  • Oakview Lane.

No work will take place outside these hours however equipment may need to be stored securely on site overnight.

Works will involve using hole-boring equipment fitted to the back of a small truck, high pressure water spray and a small excavator.

Types of works to be carried out

During these works, the following site investigation activities are expected to take place:

  • Non-destructive digging
  • Ground condition investigations
  • Service proving works
  • Arborist assessments
  • Site surveys.

What to expect

  • Intermittent temporary speed reductions
  • Temporary minor pedestrian detours
  • Increase in trucks, small drilling rigs and light vehicles in the area
  • Increased activities onsite
  • Non-destructive digging and small excavation equipment operating along the road
  • Some noise, dust, and vibration.
