We're removing 10 more level crossings by 2025, bringing the total to 85 level crossings gone for good.

Works notice – Hoppers Junction car park upgrade works early 2022

21 Dec 2021

We removed the dangerous level crossing at Old Geelong Road in Hoppers Crossing by building a new road bridge over the rail line, directly connecting Princes Highway to Old Geelong Road.

With the new road bridge now open and the level crossing removed, we’ll soon start work in 2022 to complete the Hoppers Crossing Station pedestrian and bike rider overpass and precinct, as well as upgrade the Hoppers Junction car park.

At Hoppers Junction, we’ll update access and line marking in the car park to make it easier and safer for locals to walk to the station, visit the shops, and enjoy the new landscaped plazas.

Upcoming works

We’ll work in the Hoppers Junction car park between Monday 17 January and Monday 7 March to replace asphalt and kerbs, update the southern driveway for easier car park access, and line mark car parks with an updated layout.

During the first stage of works we’ll remove the existing toilet block to make way for a new one being installed by Wyndham City Council. Temporary accessible toilets will be available until the new block opens, by mid 2022.

To shorten the length of construction as much as possible, we’ll work 24 hours, 6 days a week between Monday and Saturday.

How this will affect you

To complete these works, we’ll need to close off sections of the Hoppers Junction car park. We’ll work in two stages to help minimise disruption to businesses:

  • Stage 1: 7am Monday 17 January to 7am Monday 14 February, from approximately Mr Crumb to Maymee Kitchen Chinese Restaurant.
  • Stage 2: 7am Monday 14 February to 7am Monday 7 March, from approximately Cellarbrations to Elio Italian Bistro

You may notice dust, lighting, activity and generator noise while works take place, as well as construction workers and vehicles.

Access to businesses and alternative car parks will be maintained. More information about temporary car park and access changes can be found below.

Outdoor dining areas will need to be temporarily relocated at times to safely facilitate works.
