Works notice – Bell Street closure
25 Jan 2022
Work is now underway to remove four dangerous and congested level crossings at Oakover Road, Bell Street, Cramer Street and Murray Road, and build new stations at Bell and Preston. The level crossings will be removed by raising the rail line over the roads, improving safety and accessibility, and delivering new community open spaces.
Bell Street overnight closures
Bell Street will be closed at the level crossing from Thursday 3 February to Saturday 5 February, between 7pm to 6am, while we continue works on the new rail bridge including installing new screens.
There will be times when we will close either the pedestrian crossing at Bell Station or Donovan Street. One pedestrian crossing will be open at all times, and a short detour will be in place to help pedestrians safely travel through the area.
Local road closures
The Bell Street and Donovan Street intersection will be closed while these works take place, with a vehicle detour via Emery Street and Mary Street.
The Blanch Street and Bell Street intersection will also be closed, with a vehicle detour via Isaacs Street and Peter Street.
Bell Station night deliveries
24/7 works to build Bell Station footings will continue until early February.
Major construction has also started to build the new Bell Station.
During various nights throughout February, we will be delivering steel to the station precinct via Bell Street and Garnet Street.
Construction activities are dependent on a range of factors including weather conditions. Every effort will be made to complete these works on schedule, however please note that dates are subject to change.
We will directly contact residents who may be impacted by the works.
