We're removing 10 more level crossings by 2025, bringing the total to 85 level crossings gone for good.

Works notice – 24/7 works in Glenroy

14 Apr 2022

The Victorian Government is removing the level crossing on Glenroy Road and building a new Glenroy Station. By Saturday 14 May, the level crossing will be gone for good with trains running to the new station.

From Tuesday 26 April until Friday 13 May 2022, we will be carrying out 24-hour works to remove the boom gates on Glenroy Road, prepare the new Glenroy Station to open and connect the new rail with the existing track.

Glenroy Road will be closed at the level crossing from Tuesday 26 April and open on Saturday 14 May.

Changes to the way you travel

To safely transport rock and soil from site, and to deliver and install materials within the rail corridor, there will be changed traffic conditions on Station Road and surrounding streets including:

  • Station Road will be closed to through traffic between Glenroy Road and Meaker Avenue. No access will be available to and from adjoining roads. See map below.
  • Local access to Station Road will be maintained via the northbound lane only, with vehicles able to enter from Meaker Avenue in the south and exit from Barwon Street in the north.
  • On-street parking will be temporarily removed on Meaker Avenue, Barwon Street, Station Road and Corio Street.

Access passes will be provided to residents and businesses along Station Road. Please show the pass to traffic controllers so they can assist you to access your property.

For your safety, please follow the signage and instructions from traffic controllers. There may be small delays for access to your property.

You may notice an increase in construction vehicles in the local area as well as additional light from light towers in the rail corridor during night works.

Areas along Station Road will be used to store construction materials at times during these works. Please see map overleaf. These areas will be reseeded once works are complete.

If you have any questions regarding the possible impact of these works, or if at any time our works significantly disturb you, please contact us on 1800 105 105 to discuss how we may be able to assist.

Every effort will be made to complete these works on schedule however dates are subject to change.
