Rosanna Station Opening Q & A's

  • Will normal timetabled services resume on Friday 4 May?
    • Yes. Normal train services will resume on Friday 4 May.

  • Will Rosanna Station open on Friday 4 May?
    • Yes. The new Rosanna Station will be open and be operational on Friday 4 May. Works will continue around the station in the coming months whilst we complete its transformation.

  • What facilities will be available when the new Rosanna Station opens?
    • The following facilities will be available when Rosanna Station opens on Friday 4 May.

      • Station Platforms
      • All four lifts
      • Lighting— there will be some temporary lighting as works continue around the station
      • CCTV
      • Myki facilities
      • PA system
      • Passenger Information Displays
      • Customer help point
      • Hearing loop
  • Will parking be returned to Rosanna Station when it reopens on Friday 4 May?
    • No. The new station car park will not open until mid-2018. In the interim offset car parking is available at:

      • Ellesmere Parade adjacent to the rail line
      • The east side of Beetham Parade.
  • Why isn’t the car parking opening at the same time as the station?
    • The priority for the project team during the construction blitz has been to complete the major works, so that trains can start running again.

      The major works included removing the level crossings at Grange and Lower Plenty roads, duplicating the track and reopening the new Rosanna Station. As a result, the construction program did not allow for the station and car parks to open simultaneously.

      Now the trains are running again, the project team will be working hard to finish the car park to allow for it to open as soon as possible.

  • Will there be additional work around Rosanna Station over the coming months?
    • Yes. Works will continue around Rosanna Station until mid-2018.

      While the station is operational, temporary arrangements are in place as work continues over coming months around the station precinct. We’ll be completing the fit out of the customer service office, waiting room and kiosk. As well as completing the architectural finishes to the station and canopies.  Work will also continue around the ramps, station parking facilities and landscaping.

  • Will there be more rail disruptions as part of the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade?
    • Yes. Works will continue as part of the Hurstbridge Line until mid-2018 and there will be several minor disruptions.

  • I need special assistance, what do I do?
    • For further information on accessible transport services, contact us on 1800 800 007.

  • Is the new station staffed?
    • Yes. As part of the upgrade, Rosanna Station will become a host station and staffed between 6.30–10.30am weekdays. Staff will be available from first train until 7.00pm Friday 4 May to Wednesday 9 May (excluding the weekend) to help passengers with the transition to the new station.

  • How do I get into the new station?
    • Passengers will be able to enter the new Rosanna Station from either Lower Plenty Rd or Beetham Parade while works continue around the station until mid-2018. Passengers will be able to enter from Turnham Ave once station works are completed.

      Customer service staff will also be on hand and signs in place to guide passengers to the new Rosanna Station and facilities. Station maps are displayed throughout the station precinct and can also be found on the LXRA and PTV websites.

  • Are there only lifts at the new station?
    • No. In addition to the four lifts there are stairs to access the elevated platforms.

  • Is there somewhere where I can store my bike?
    • Yes. 15 bicycle hoops are available across two locations. Seven within the Turnham Ave forecourt and eight located on the concourse near the kiosk.

  • Are there toilets at the new station?
    • Yes. Toilets will be available for use during the stations staffed times. From Friday 4 May to Wednesday 9 May (excluding the weekend) opening times will be from first train until 7.00pm. After this toilet facilities will be accessible between 6.30–10.30am weekdays.
