Kororoit Creek Road community update – December 2017
10 Jan 2018
Major works underway
Construction crews have been busy at our Kororoit Creek Road site, working through our first two weekend rail closures to prepare the area for the removal of the dangerous and congested level crossing.
Works now completed include:
- Installation of a temporary crossing over the train tracks for construction vehicles
- Erection of on-site sheds and fencing
- Relocation of underground utilities.
Speed limits have been reduced to keep workers safe and a temporary pedestrian crossing has been put in place near the construction area.

What are we working on?
In the coming months, our work crews will lay the foundations of the rail bridge to be built over Kororoit Creek Road.
Rather than using traditional methods, we will use a modern technique to secure the foundations of the rail bridge.
This will reduce construction noise and protect nearby underground services from vibration.
A lot of the foundation works will take place over summer in preparation for our main rail closure in mid-2018.
Stakeholder Liaison Group
To coincide with the start of major construction, the project's Stakeholder Liaison Group has begun meeting regularly. The group is made up of representatives from the Williamstown North and Altona Loop communities, as well as environmental groups and local road users.
Regular meetings include presentations from designers and construction managers, with in-depth project information available to ensure that community members have a voice on issues that matter to them.
The group will continue to meet regularly as works progress.
