Grange Road, Alphington Community Update – November 2017
01 Nov 2017
The Victorian Government is removing two dangerous and congested level crossings along the Hurstbridge line, building a brand new Rosanna Station, and duplicating the single section of track between Heidelberg and Rosanna. This will make communities safer and get commuters in Melbourne's north east home sooner.
In early October, we temporarily closed Grange Road at the level crossing for the second time to install a second support beam at the intersection. We also continued drilling small holes along the length of the rail corridor, in preparation for a major trench dig in early 2018.
Throughout November and December 2017, we will continue to drill along the rail corridor during the day, as well as install cables and overhead structures between Fairfield and Alphington stations. Should any out-of-hours works take place, the project team will notify nearby residents.
The majority of works at Grange Road, including digging the rail trench, will take place during a construction blitz in early 2018.
