Caulfield to Dandenong Area 3 Community Update – March 2018
01 Mar 2018
Works are completed to remove dangerous and congested level crossings at Corrigan, Heatherton and Chandler roads. Noble Park Station is now operational as works continue on the brand new station.

Level crossings gone, station open
The project team kicked off 2018 with a mammoth construction blitz that saw the boom gates removed from Corrigan, Heatherton and Chandler roads level crossings and the first trains run through the new Noble Park Station. We enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with the community at our event on 24 February. We’d like to thank the Noble Park Rotary Club, the Noble Park CFA and the City of Greater Dandenong for their help and support in making this event a success.
The next phase
This month, our focus will be shifting to the next phase of construction—the creation of the new linear park. The old rail lines are being removed, so the team can begin construction of the open space. Earthworks will soon begin to remove the top layer of soil in the area so we can form a stable foundation for the landscaping that will follow. Key features of the linear parkland include a 17 kilometre walking/cycling path extending from Caulfield to the East Link Trail, seven new community recreational areas and an off-leash dog park near Ross Reserve. Additionally, throughout the corridor we will be installing more than 400 brand new car parks and planting more than 30,000 new trees and shrubs.

We're working hard to minimise disruptions for residents, commuters, local businesses and shoppers wherever possible. However, there will be some disruptions including the following:
- Buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Westall from 8:00pm until the last service each night from Monday 26 March to Thursday 29 March 2018.
- Buses will replace trains between Oakleigh and Dandenong from 12:30am Friday 30 March until the last service on Monday 2 April 2018.
- Buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Westall from the first service Tuesday 3 April until the last service on Sunday 15 April 2018.
Corrigan Road, Noble Park
- Corrigan Road, Noble Park, will be closed at the train line from 6:00am 19 March to 6:00am 27 March 2018 for track removal and road resurfacing. Minor delays can be expected. Please detour via Lightwood Road, Kelvinside Road and Heatherton Road.
Mons Parade, Noble Park
- Until April 2018, Mons Parade will close intermittently on selected days and nights between Heatherton Road and Ian Street to enable the completion of Noble Park Station. On-street car parking on Ian Street may be affected at times.

To minimise disruptions, we opened the new station as soon as it became operational.
Noble Park Station is operational. Lifts were successfully installed, station platforms have been completed and the station forecourt has been paved. The project team will continue to add the finishing touches to the station. Further works happening around Noble Park include the demolition of the old Noble Park Station and the removal of the Douglas Street underpass. Work will also begin on the two ground level buildings at the new Noble Park Station. Key features of the linear parkland include a 17 kilometre walking/cycling path extending from Caulfield to the East Link Trail, seven new community recreational areas and an off-leash dog park near Ross Reserve.

Walking tours – back by popular demand
We were thrilled with the overwhelming interest in our Caulfield to Dandenong walking tours in January and February. We want to make sure that everyone who is interested in these tours doesn’t miss out, so we’ve started an online register where you can express your interest in advance.
How do I register for future tours?
Email your name, phone number and which areas of the project you would be interested in seeing to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once enough people have registered interest, we will be in contact with the details of the next tour.
We are sad to announce that the Information Hub has now left Noble Park. We have enjoyed having the opportunity to talk to Noble Park residents face-to-face about the project over the past year. The hub is now located in Clayton and is open 9:00am to 5:00pm every Monday and Wednesday and from 9:00am to 12 noon every second Saturday.
