Caulfield to Dandenong area 2 Community update – January 2018

16 Jan 2018

Major works are underway to remove dangerous level crossings at Clayton and Centre roads and build a brand new station in Clayton.

Construction underway

The project has continued to make significant progress over recent months with milestones including the installation of escalators and walkways at the new Clayton Station.

The brand-new station will feature elevated platforms accessed via lifts, stairs and escalators to improve access for passengers changing from buses to trains.

Over the coming months we will begin installing the new station canopy, which will be installed in segments.

We will also begin laying rail tracks on the elevated line in preparation for trains to run. In total, 4.5 kilometres of new rail track will be laid in Clayton.

Disruptions

We’re working hard to minimise disruptions for residents, commuters, and local businesses wherever possible. However, there will be some unavoidable disruptions, including the following:

Road

Until March 2018, Carinish Road will close intermittently from Kanooka Grove towards Clayton Road to build the new Clayton Station. Detours will be in place via Centre Road, Browns Road and Clayton Road. Local residential access will be maintained at all times.

Rail

Buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Dandenong from Wednesday 10 January until the last service on Wednesday 17 January 2018.

Buses will replace trains between Oakleigh and Dandenong from 8:00pm until the last service each night from Sunday 21 January to Wednesday 24 January 2018.

Buses will replace trains between Caulfield and Dandenong from 8:00pm until the last service on Thursday 25 January 2018.

Buses will replace trains between Westall and Dandenong from Tuesday 30 January until the last service on Sunday 11 February 2018. Train services will resume on Monday 12 February 2018.

We appreciate your patience while we continue this important project to remove two dangerous and congested level crossings in Clayton for good.
