What we heard from Glenroy

28 Jul 2020

We’re removing the level crossing at Glenroy Road on the Craigieburn line by lowering the rail underneath the road. We’ll also build a new Glenroy Station.

In May this year we asked the Glenroy community for their ideas about what they'd like to see included in and around the new station precinct.

Over 400 people provided feedback, with 40 per cent of locals saying they’d like to see improved connections to shopping areas and more greenery and landscaping around the station.

We heard that the area surrounding the station was lacking in green spaces and vegetation.

The community suggested we incorporate native vegetation and plants in the new station precinct design.

More than half the survey respondents wanted architecturally designed finishes to be included in the project, while 38 per cent preferred community or public artwork.

Overall, we heard the community is not only looking forward to the level crossing being removed but is also excited about a new vibrant station precinct and what it will do to help improve the local area.

We’d like to thank everyone who provided feedback as part of this survey - we’ll use this information as we progress designs.

We’ll have more information to share later this year about the station and precinct designs.

The Glenroy project is currently in the planning phase, with construction to start later this year and the project due for completion in 2022.
