Upcoming disruptions in Carrum
15 Mar 2019
We might be heading into winter, but things are heating up in Carrum
Works are underway to get rid of three level crossings in Carrum, create a new direct road network and transform Carrum with new open community spaces. To enable works to progress there will be changes to the way you travel around the area in March and April.
Carrum Station car park
The Carrum Station car park is closed until early 2020, while we build the temporary track to keep Frankston line trains running and help minimise disruptions to commuters during our major works.
There’s alternative parking at Seaford North Reserve, Chelsea Library and at the Bonbeach foreshore.
Karrum Karrum Bridge
Pedestrian access across Karrum Karrum Bridge will be temporarily closed from Wednesday 13 March to Sunday 31 March so we can construct the new ramp on the Carrum side of the river and install new rail infrastructure.
Beach access from the Carrum side of the bridge is closed until all works on Karrum Karrum Bridge are complete in late April 2019.
The Station Street and McLeod Road intersection is closed from 6:00pm to 7:00am each night until Monday 25 March for utilities relocation works.
The Mascot Avenue, Bonbeach level crossing will close from 7:00am Thursday 21 March to 6:00pm Thursday 28 March for power and signalling upgrades along the rail line.
Buses replace trains between Mordialloc and Frankston from first service Monday 1 April to last service Wednesday 3 April for level crossing removal works in Carrum.
Buses replace trains on sections of the Frankston line from 11:30pm Friday 5 April to last service Tuesday 23 April for upgrades on the Frankston line.
For journey planning, visit the PTV website or call 1800 800 007.
From now until early 2020, the bus stop (857 and 970) outside Carrum Station will be moved to McLeod Road.
Pedestrian and cyclist
There’ll be changes to the way pedestrians and cyclists move around Carrum Station until early 2020, with traffic management in place. Bicycle hoops at Carrum Station have moved to Bonbeach Station and bicycle lockers removed until early 2020.
