South Gippsland Highway contract awarded

13 Mar 2020

The South Gippsland Highway, Dandenong South level crossing is one step closer to being removed with the construction contract signed and early works set to begin soon. Major construction will start in mid 2020.

The level crossing will be removed by building a road bridge over the rail line. This design will provide significant benefits including improved pedestrian connections and access to important services for the local community.

Early works will include site establishment on South Gippsland Highway, underground services relocation, and preliminary road works to prepare for traffic changes on Princes Highway and South Gippsland Highway.

Major works in mid 2020 will construct the new road bridge and replace the dangerous intersection at South Gippsland Highway and Princes Highway with a fully signalised T-intersection.

We will work to minimise local disruptions or community impacts while these works take place. We will also advise the community of any temporary traffic or access changes in advance.
