Ride the Reservoir rail bridge in December

24 Oct 2019

Reservoir’s dangerous and congested High Street level crossing will be gone for good and the new Reservoir Station open by Christmas.

Trains will start travelling on the Reservoir rail bridge and stopping at the brand new Reservoir Station from Monday 16 December 2019.

In order to get the station open and trains running on the new bridge, buses will replace trains on sections of the Mernda line from Tuesday 3 December to last train Sunday 15 December.

During this time, workers will demolish the old Reservoir Station platforms and install new track and overhead wires.

Once the new station is open and the old ground-level tracks removed, the project team will begin works to complete the new station, including the new lifts, station staff facilities, passenger waiting room, kiosk and parking facilities, all to be completed in 2020.

At the same time, we’ll undertake landscaping works on the new community spaces and new civic plaza – which will improve pedestrian connectivity between Edwardes Street and Broadway – and plant 330 extra trees. View updated designs of how these spaces will look below.

While these works take place, there will be no lift access at the station from Monday 16 December until early 2020. Passengers who need lift access will be provided with alternative transport between Regent and Reservoir stations.

Temporary access to the platform will be via stairs at the northern end of the station platform.

The current temporary station facilities on High Street will still be in use until the new station facilities are complete in 2020.
