Platform shaping up at Reservoir

23 Jul 2019

The new Reservoir Station is taking shape. While trains were not running over the weekend, the Reservoir Level Crossing Removal Project team installed three of six steel sections of the new elevated platform.

Each section weighs between 60 and 100 tonnes, and is lifted into place by one of the two large cranes on site.

Concrete planks will slot into the steel sections to form the base of the new platform. Once the existing ground-level station reopens on Monday 5 August, the new platform will be like a roof overhead.

Plenty of locals turned up for our viewing event on Saturday to check out the progress and enjoy a treat from Bakers Delight, Reservoir.

There will be a lot more work taking place over the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye on our viewing events page if you’d like to meet some of the team while you watch the progress.
