Digging deep at Clyde Road during major construction

Work is in full swing to remove the dangerous and congested level crossing at Clyde Road, Berwick by building a new road underpass below the Pakenham line.

More than 300 piles are being drilled up to 29 meters deep to create strong foundations for the new road underpass and rail bridge across Clyde Road.

Later this month, we’ll work around the clock during a week-long construction blitz from Friday 19 February to Friday 26 February.

Works will also take place along the Pakenham line at Cardinia Road, Pakenham, Hallam Road, Hallam and on the new South Gippsland Highway road bridge in Dandenong South.

During this time, buses will replace trains on sections of the Cranbourne and Pakenham linesClyde Road will be closed at times, and pedestrian access will be closed at the rail line and on sections of Clyde Road.

Berwick’s new and improved road network, better walking and cycling connections and upgraded bus interchange at Berwick Station will be complete next year.
