Buses to continue to replace trains on the Frankston line

09 Feb 2021

Updated 5.04pm Tuesday 9 February

Buses will continue to replace trains between Mordialloc, Frankston and Stony Point this week. We are working to have services resume on Monday 15 February.

We apologise for any inconvenience to passengers.

Due to issues with old signalling equipment encountered during level crossing removal works in Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach, Frankston line trains are unable to resume as planned.

Crews are working to fix the signalling issue, and we’ll update passengers when the issue is repaired.

The existing system is old and will be replaced as part of the project when we have removed the 5 level crossings between Edithvale and Bonbeach, and rebuild the 3 new stations.

The same replacement bus operations that have been delivered throughout the rail closure will continue, with customer service staff at train stations and replacement bus stops to help rail passengers. Passengers should allow extra time.

Local road impacts

All level crossings from Edithvale to Bonbeach are open to drivers and pedestrians. Traffic management will be in place to help you move safely through the area.

The pedestrian crossing at Berry Avenue, Edithvale is open. All other pedestrian crossings are currently closed.

The planned closure of Station Street between Edithvale Road and Fraser Avenue will be delayed until Frankston line trains are back up and running.
