We're removing 110 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2030, the largest project of its kind in Victoria's history.

A total of 74 level crossings have been removed so far.

The Sunbury, Werribee and Frankston lines will join the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Lilydale lines in being level crossing free, changing the way people live, work and travel.

Removing level crossings:

  • improves safety for road users and pedestrians
  • reduces congestion, making travel easier for people who use public transport, walk, cycle or drive
  • creates thousands of jobs during construction
  • helps people get home safer and faster.

We're also building new train stations and creating new public spaces.
