Train passing through level crossing in Seaford

We are one step closer to removing more dangerous and congested level crossings along the Frankston line.

The Frankston line package of works will see the removal of eight level crossings at Cheltenham, Mentone, Edithvale, Bonbeach, Carrum and Seaford.

Expressions of interest (EOI) are sought for the initial works package, which includes removing the Seaford and Carrum level crossings, building a new road bridge to connect Station Street over Patterson River, rebuilding Carrum Station and relocating the train stabling from Carrum to Kananook.

The successful construction partners will design, develop and deliver the initial package of works, with the ability to be awarded additional level crossing removals and related works along the line, subject to performance.

Packaging these works together will reduce disruption to local residents, businesses and commuters, as well as deliver the benefits of the project faster.

Works will begin in early to mid-2018, starting with the Seaford level crossing removal and the new road bridge over Patterson River in Carrum.

Further down the Frankston line, the Skye/Overton level crossing removal project is scheduled to begin this year and will be completed in 2018 as part of the North West Program Alliance.

The full package of works for the Frankston line is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
