Acting Premier James Merlino speaking to members ofpress

An Expression of Interest was released to the market today for two major packages of work for the removal of 11 more level crossings.

Construction will begin in 2017 to remove the first two of these crossings – at Camp Road in Campbellfield and Kororoit Creek Road in Williamstown North, along with the partial duplication of the Altona Loop.

The tender process brings forward the removal of level crossings at Buckley Street in Essendon and Camp Road in Campbellfield.

Expressions of Interest are now being sought for two construction partners to deliver the works:

  • One successful bidder will initially deliver the level crossing removals at Camp Road, with the opportunity to then deliver further level crossing removals at Buckley Street, Glenroy Road in Glenroy, Bell Street in Coburg and Moreland Road in Brunswick.
  • A second successful bidder will initially deliver the Kororoit Creek Road level crossing removal and partial duplication of the Altona Loop. They will have then have the opportunity remove the level crossing at Abbotts Road in Dandenong South and deliver works on the Werribee/Williamstown lines at Aviation Road, Cherry Street, Werribee Street and Ferguson Street.

Community consultation will play an important role in the development of design options for each of the sites that are part of the Expressions of Interest process.
