The level crossing removals at North, Centre and McKinnon Roads took a major step forward over the Easter period, with bridge decks now complete at all three locations and work underway on the new McKinnon and Ormond Stations after the old stations were demolished during a 10 day rail closure.
In great news for local residents, motorists and traders, Centre Road, Bentleigh reopened earlier than expected, reducing disruptions for the surrounding area. McKinnon Road is also now open to traffic. These were the longest full road closures for the duration of the project.
Train services on the Frankston line are now operating, except that they now run express through McKinnon and Ormond Stations. Bus replacement services will continue to operate between Caulfield and Moorabbin for users of those two train stations.
Bentleigh Station will close on 3 June, with trains on the Frankston line skipping the three closed stations from that date with bus replacement services in place until the new stations are finished in August.
The project team would like to thank the local community for their patience during these works.
