Manchester Road is a main road running north-south with two lanes in each direction plus turn lanes at intersections. The road carries almost 25,000 vehicles per day.
We are beginning assessments within the local area to find the best solution to remove the level crossings at Manchester Road, Mooroolbark and Maroondah Highway, Lilydale.
We have recently completed a ground feature survey within the rail corridor and at intersecting roads around Manchester Road, Mooroolbark and Maroondah Highway, Lilydale in preparation for the removal of these level crossings.
This investigation is one of a number of surveys which will be conducted in the area, including early planning and engineering assessments.
As the project is still in the very early planning stage, a construction start date has not yet been confirmed.
We will begin engaging the local community to capture feedback to understand what is important to them when removing the level crossings in the area, along with early planning and engineering assessment phases.
We will keep the community informed via website updates, regular bulletins, letterbox drops, local newspaper advertising, onsite information boards and community information displays.
