An initiative of Training for the Future, GEN44 and GEN8 will build the next generation of diverse and inclusive talent ready for careers in rail and transport.

Gen44

GEN44 is designed to build a diverse pipeline of graduates ready for careers in rail and transport.

Through our partnerships with Project Alliances, Joint Ventures and Training for the Future Partners, GEN44 aims to provide 44 rail-focused internships each year to university students from marginalised or disadvantaged backgrounds, including those who:

  • are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • have a disability
  • are from low socio-economic backgrounds
  • are refugees/asylum seekers.

We aim for women to make up 50 per cent of our total intern intake.

Gen8

GEN8 will help mid-career professionals who are asylum seekers or recently arrived refugees gain valuable rail and transport sector experience.

GEN8 aims to provide eight internships each year to asylum seekers or recently arrived refugees who have professional qualifications and experience from their countries of origin. We aim for women to make up 50 per cent of our total intern intake.

Internships provide valuable local experience and access to industry networks – both of which are often barriers to new Australians accessing professional employment.

Internships will provide participants with entry level roles, helping them to identify transition pathways to longer-term opportunities.
